How to transform a Traxdata CDRW2260 Pro into a Yamaha CRW2260:
  • Download this Yamaha firmware update (1.0h): TRAX2YAM.ZIP
  • Create a bootable diskette and extract the archive to this diskette.

  • Leave the writer-tray open and turn off the computer.
  • Open the bottom-cover of the writer (4 little screws).
  • Locate the jumper-header called: CORE BOOT (near the scsi connector), the CORE BOOT permit the reverse operation to Flash the bios.
  • Short it with a jumper.
  • Close the bottom-cover.
  • Reconnect the CD-Writer to the SCSI Controller.
  • Put the diskette in drive A: and turn on the computer, the following message will show up in the SCSI startup: YAMAHA CDR400 CORE
  • When ready launch this batchfile: UPTO10H.BAT [SCSI ID]
    [SCSI ID]
= SCSI ID of the connected Traxdata writer.
  • When the flash update process is done, Leave the writer-tray open and turn off the computer.
  • Open the bottom-cover of the writer (4 little screws)
  • Remove the jumper again from: CORE BOOT
  • Close the bottom-cover.
  • Turn on the computer and you will see: YAMAHA CRW 2260
NOTE: This fix should also change the Traxdata CDRW4260 into a Yamaha CRW4260
