SmartStor Archive v. 3.0 Provides
Media Independent, Near-Line Storage
ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--June 28, 1999--Smart Storage Inc., a leading provider of
near-line storage and CD duplication software, today announced the
release of SmartStor Archive v. 3.0, its latest version of network
storage software for Windows NT environments. With SmartStor
Archive v. 3.0, Smart Storage adds supports for DVD-RAM and MO
storage devices to provide a media-independent, near-line storage
solution. SmartStor Archive v. 3.0 now manages a wide range of
optical jukeboxes and drives that support read-only, write-once,
and re-writable optical media, including CD-ROM, CD-R, DVD-ROM,
DVD-R, DVD-RAM, WORM, and MO.
"By supporting higher
capacity DVD-RAM and MO storage devices, we're able to market our
SmartStor Archive software to organizations that require the
additional capacity," said Gary Brach, president of Smart
Storage. "In addition, we've made the whole CD/DVD storage
process easier for administrators looking to immediately address
their needs for secondary storage and information archiving."
SmartStor Archive is a complete
read/write software solution for vertical storage applications
such as imaging, digital asset management, and CAD, as well as
generalized data storage. The entire optical storage device or
devices can be viewed as a single drive letter, allowing Windows
(3.x, 95, 98, and NT), UNIX, and Macintosh clients to archive and
retrieve data from the same network location. SmartStor Archive
also supports multiple industry standard file formats (ISO 9660,
Joliet, Rockridge, Apple HFS, UDF, and NTFS) for optical media to
provide universal accessibility.
SmartStor Archive v. 3.0 provides
all the functionality required for high-performance storage and
retrieval solutions:
- Hundreds of users across the
network can concurrently archive and access data from the
SmartStor file system.
- Transparent,
single-drive-letter read/write support for CD-ROM, CD-R,
DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, MO, and WORM.
- Sophisticated caching schemes
to provide maximum performance.
- Easy-to-use graphical user
interface (GUI) for Windows NT.
- Scalable solutions to meet
customers' diverse and growing storage needs.
